IDEM – the unique, efficiently crafted bentwood bench

Our bench designers have once again turned a creative idea into what we think is a particularly stunning result. The IDEM curved bench is available in numerous variations, and the wave-shaped arrangement of partly tapered, steam-bent wooden elements is sure to catch the eye.

IDEM – the simple curved bench with exciting dynamics

The IDEM is a simple curved bench made from slats running lengthways. By tapering the slats towards the ends, we can construct the seat from identical parts, which allows us to produce more efficiently than for conventional curved benches despite the high degree of flexibility. This also changes the seat depth of the bench, creating an exciting dynamic flow that is further accentuated by a wavelike sequence of several identical elements.

Of course, we can also tailor the bench’s seat depth to the client’s preferences and surrounding landscape by adjusting the slat thickness, radius, selected arch segment and number of slats.

Creative interplay of forms and
a wealth of combinations

As with all our curved benches for outdoor use, we recommend the durable and weather-resistant wood types oak, larch and Douglas fir. If you want to set up your IDEM curved bench indoors or under a roof, the range of possible options is even greater.

We can manufacture the metal parts in steel or stainless steel and, on request, powder-coat them in the client’s desired colour or galvanise them. For efficient production and optimum wood utilisation, we recommend that the slats of the IDEM bench are approximately 60–70 mm thick at the thickest point (curved dimension).

Playing with forms and possibilities opens up countless options, such as: a curved bench made from six identical parts, S-shaped curves, long arcs of mirrored elements, multi-curve configurations, or special forms such as elliptical or parabolic segments for an even more dynamic flow.
