Bentwood in timber construction

Architects and builders are increasingly embracing curved forms for wooden building. Structural solutions made from bentwood for façades, porthole windows, pergolas, bicycle shelters or terrace edging are not only attractive to look at, but also stable and durable.

Building sustainably
with steam-bent wood

Sustainability is also becoming increasingly important in construction for ecological reasons. Many types of wood used in modern timber construction can be shaped very efficiently using our technique. With bentwood, we can also eliminate glue joints and tapered sections in timber construction.

Bentwood can be used in wood construction not only for façades and windows, but also for structural elements. If the architect wants to build with bends, they need curved beams and much more besides. Our wood-bending team are experts at building with curves and are happy to share their expertise with architects and timber builders.

Do you have an idea for a curved timber design? We have a solid solution. Steam-bent façade arches and cladding give buildings an ecologically sustainable exterior. You can order the curved parts from us with the desired radius, straight ends, a rebate and a sawn surface. We recommend larch, Douglas fir or silver fir as the wood type.
